Youth and Family Programs
Family Art Workshops
Museum visitors of all ages are invited to join us on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. in the Museum School to create a unique work of art based on the Museum's exhibitions. All supplies are provided. Family Art Workshops are free with Museum admission and free to Museum members.
The Museum hosts exhibition-based Family Days several times a year. These Days usually include an art activity and an interactive activity in the exhibition gallery. Please view our Calendar for more information on the Museum's next Family Day.
Lead With the Arts
Lead with the Arts is a free after school program offered by the Albuquerque Museum for students ages 15-17. The program provides a dynamic learning environment where teens work collaboratively with their peers and local artists to create a group work for display in the Museum. They also spend time exploring art together in the Museum and art spaces around Albuquerque and they see behind the scenes to understand how museums work. This year the Museum partnered with Larry Bob Phillips to create two and three dimensional art directly on the Museum’s walls. This program is supported in part by funding from PNM and by the Foundation's annual Shaken, Not Stirred martini-themed fundraiser.
Check out this great 2014 Lead with the Arts video produced by Brian Bolman. Brian has been on the volunteer committee for Shaken Not Stirred for four years, benefitting the Lead with Arts Program at the Museum.
