Start off the new year with projects designed to inspire maximum creativity! Each class samples different materials and themes including book making, drawing fundamentals, life-sized paper dolls, portraiture, abstract sculpture and the artist Claude Monet.

Discover a content of contemporary design while exploring the newest exhibition at the Museum, “Making Africa”. Students find inspiration in the exhibition’s themes of socially conscious design, repurposed materials, empowering communities through art and fashion that makes a statement.

Albert Einstein said, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything better.” Inspired by this idea, students examine the life of birds, bees and butterflies to create their own one of kind masterpieces to include in a classroom art show.

Ophelia Adelai Cornet is head art teacher and summer art coordinator at the museum. She is forever inspired and delighted by her young art students’ spontaneity and talent. Her teaching is complemented by her love of painting as well as ceramics, design, gardening and travel.
Museum School Winter Weather Policy
Please note that Museum cancels classes if the Albuquerque Public Schools (city wide) are closed. When Albuquerque Public Schools are on a two hour delay, Museum School classes will start one hour later. If the Museum cancels a class due to weather or illness, a make- up class date will be provided.
Albuquerque Museum seeks to enhance children's artistic and cultural development through year-round classes and workshops in art and history. Classes for all ages from preschool to seniors are offered at nominal fees so that they are available to all.
